One Square Mile, 10,000 Voices
During WWII, more than 10,000 Japanese Americans were unjustly incarcerated at Manzanar. This audio augmented reality installation geolocates recordings from Manzanar’s past and present around the physical landscape. Using a mobile app, visitors can explore the site while listening to its stories and recording their own, creating a living document of resistance, resilience, and community.
Onsite installations at Little Tokyo and Manzanar National Historic Site; download the app and explore the virtual experience at onesquaremile.fm.
